Scott Gerard Schaefer
Schaefer, Scott 3/13/1959 - 7/13/2016 Murrieta, California Scott Gerard Schaefer passed away on Wednesday, July 13 at his home in Murrieta, California at the age of 57. Scott was born in Flint, Michigan on March 13, 1959. Scott graduated from Linden High School and then joined the United States Marine Corps from 10/30/77 - 01/31/2001. He served for over 23 years. In his spare time he enjoyed working on his fish tanks, spending time with his animals and watching The Food Network along with all Lion and Tiger games. Surviving are: Mother, Barbara Woodruff and husband, Charlie of Flushing; Stepmother, Diana Schaefer of Houghton Lake; two sisters, Deborah Schaefer, Lisa and husband, Spencer Stokes; nieces and nephews, Rachelle and husband Rick Bedell, Lindsey Schaefer, Alec, Spencer, and PFC Ross Stokes; along with Great Nephew, Benjamin Bedell. He was preceded in death by his sister, Jody Schaefer and father, Joseph Schaefer. Scott will be laid to rest on Friday, July 29 at Riverside National Cemetery in California. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the ALS Association or ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Animal Cruelty) Scott will be greatly missed by all who have known him. The family would also like to give much thanks to Mission Hospice who went above and beyond to care for Scott in his final months.
